LED Light Bulbs Are the Ideal Choice for Businesses

LED lighting has been in use in the high-end corporate market for some years now, but recent advances in technology have enabled producers to make more powerful LED light bulbs at lower prices then before. It’s no longer just swanky boutique hotels, designer label stores and exclusive art galleries that light up their spaces with LEDs – many other businesses, and even homeowners, are now also switching to LED bulbs.

LED light bulbs are made up of groups of LEDs (light emitting diodes) that are arranged in various configurations. While white LEDs are the most common, they are also available in a multitude of color combinations that produce a wide variety of lighting moods from bright, natural daylight to subdued twilight. Some of the new variants are also dimmable.

The latest LED bulbs come in a variety of shapes from globes and spotlights to corncobs and light sabers, many of them offering a stylish, space-age look that can form part of a distinctive décor. As with traditional incandescent bulbs and the popular compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), there are also several different wattages available. All in all, these high-tech bulbs are exceptionally customizable, making them especially useful for businesses of all kinds.

While LED lighting requires a larger upfront expenditure than conventional bulbs, its exceptionally long usage period and low energy consumption make this the most economical option in the long term. An LED light bulb can be expected to give 30,000 hours of light and work for as long as 20 or 30 years. In contrast, a compact fluorescent lamp usually has a lifespan of 8,000 hours while a regular bulb will shine for a mere 1,000 hours. For this reason, the new generation of LED lamps are solidly constructed and therefore less likely to break than their older equivalents.

From factories, offices, retail stores and exhibition spaces to street lighting and Christmas tree lights, many large corporations and local governments across the world are now switching to LED bulbs. Although initial costs are typically three times as high as for regular light sources, commercial and public LED users report that they are recouping their investments within two to five years thanks to the lower power utilization of light emitting diodes. Since they require changing so rarely, LED bulbs are ideal for those hard-to reach places like high ceilings and on top of buildings. With these factors in mind, and with utility costs going up everywhere, a growing number of smaller companies are now jumping on the bandwagon and installing LED lights too.

As a business owner you can of course offset purchase costs against taxes, making the upfront expense of equipping your business premises with LEDs a lot easier to swallow. You can also save money by buying online rather than from your local electrical store. And LED lighting is so much more pleasant to work under than fluorescent lamps, so you’ll have happier, healthier employees and customers too.

The eco-friendly properties of LEDs will also show that your business takes environmental issues seriously. Since they contain no mercury or other dangerous substances, and they won’t need to be disposed of for a long time, LED light bulbs cause far less damage to the environment than CFLs.
