Business Networking Superstar Tips – Get Savvy Online

Face to face business networking will always be important, but if your business is not integrated with an online presence, you will miss out on the power of the Internet. More millionaires are being created online than in any other marketing method.

I am a big advocate of having a blog, because it is an excellent way to establish yourself as an expert in your field and to stand out from your competition.

Blogs are highly interactive and get traffic, whereas a static website, or even worse, a company replicated site, gets very little, unless you pay mightily for it. Set up a social media strategy to create relationships and drive traffic.

Purchase a domain name, using specifically targeted keywords for your market, or your own name.

The Google AdWords Keyword Tool is free and will give you an idea of how many searches are done on a particular keyword, and what the competition is. It is important to find a market or niche that is viable. We are often told to pursue our passion or bliss, however, if there is no market, bliss means no money in the bank.

Essential social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and your blog. Although there are many free blogging platforms, most serious marketers use WordPress.org.

To develop relationships using social media, it is important to create valuable content.

When using social media such as Facebook or Twitter, to let potential clients know what you do, try this strategy:

Write an update that is one half personal and one half business such as: I am sitting at Starbucks sipping a latte and working on a business strategy for one of my coaching clients.

Doing this endears others to you, because it shows that you are human. It also lets them know you mean business.

Encourage prospects that you meet face to face to connect with you online.

Include your Twitter or Facebook profile address on your business cards, brochures or flyers.

Remember that if you only network locally and a disaster happens, such as an earthquake or flood, you always want to maintain connections in other locations so that you can continue doing business no matter what.
