Yahoo’s Overture Gone For Good? Here’s What To Do About It

Inventory.Overture.com — where’ d it go?

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this, but I’ve been monitoring inventory.overture.com since yesterday night and I still haven’t been able to access it!

So what does all this mean?

The internet is a fast animal, and change is everywhere. We must all learn to adapt and grow as need be, and that’s what we’re doing now regarding Inventory.Overture.com and your market research.

So, I’ve put together some FREE keyword tools that are working! A few of these use overture database, but that’s fine as they are still working at this moment.

I recommend using these tools in the order I recommend, as it gets more “complicated” as I go down the list. Please note these are not affiliate links!

1. PixelFast

This overture based tool seems to still be working. I recommend using it first as it will give you the same results as inventory.overture.com. Simply type your keyword phrase in the box on the top left corner and click GO.

After this, you will be prompted to type the Security Code to verify you are a human doing the search (not a robot!). Type in the Security Code they give you and click search.

You will see that your screen is split into 2 halves. What we are looking for is on the right side of the screen. If you get an error message or server busy message on the right side of the screen, just click on the try again button or redo your search by typing your keyword phrase back in the search box on the top left of the screen and click go.

If this tool doesn’t work, go on the next tool below.

2. VRE Toolbar

This tool also uses the Overture database. To use it, simply type your keyword phrase in the search box, and click on Suggest. If you get an error message, keep clicking on Suggest until the results display.

If this tool isn’t working, then go on to the next one below.

3. Domain Country

This tool is valuable and gives you 2 different database results for your keyphrases. To conduct a search, type your keyword phrase into the search box and press ENTER on your keyboard. There is no search button I’ve seen, so you’ll have to press ENTER to conduct the search.

Look at the results as they appear on the right side of the page. This is what you are to base your market research on.

If that tool goes down, here’s your next best bet.

4. Niche Taxi

WARNING: There is a semi-scantily clad picture of a woman on this site. It’s nothing we don’t see on broadcast TV everyday, but I just wanted to let you know before you click the link.

As a tool, however, Niche taxi works very well. Simply type in your keyword phrase in the search box and click OK. Don’t forget to check the box below the search box that says, “I Agree to the nichetaxi.com Terms & Conditions” From there, Niche Taxi will give you a list of results. You can then narrow your search even more by clicking on the results and “digging” deeper.

A great function of Niche Taxi is that it gives you advice on whether or not you have found a niche. Don’t concern yourself with this, however. Many times they will say you don’t have a niche, even when you do. Just focus on the search terms per month.

If this tool doesn’t do it for you, here’s your next best option.

5. Niche Bot Classic

Type the keyword phrase into the search box and click search. You’ll get 10 results with numbers saying how many searches were made during the last month. From there you can click on the words to dig deeper into the niche.

This site is only giving 10 results at a time, so it’s not the best. But it is FREE!

6. Google Keyword Tool

This is the research tool Google has put together. While it has lots of great benefits, like access to Google’s database, the results displayed are often hard to understand or make sense of.

This last tool is something that might end up becoming the new “free” keyword research tool should overture be officially shut down. I don’t want to confuse you too much and have you spending too much time with this unless it’s necessary.

Here is a brief overview of how to use this tool. The only problem with it is that you don’t get actual numbers of searches per month, you get a graph showing a 1-5 based on monthly search volume.

Towards the middle of the page you’ll see a box that says, “Enter one keyword or phrase per line:”

In the box below that line type your keyword(s). Please note you can do more than one keyword search at a time, but I recommend just sticking to one.

Type your keyword phrase into the box and click on Get More Keywords. From here you will see 4 rows of data.

Row 1 is the keyword results. Row 2 is the monthly search volume. Row 3 is the number of people competing in this market, and Row 4 is something we don’t need to know about right now,;D.

The main thing you’ll be looking at is Row 2. Row 2 tells us how many people have searched for that term over the last month. The longer the green in the box, the higher the number of searches.

Be on the lookout for higher search volume for your main keyword and then smaller search volume for your niche keywords within those phrases.

For example, using “Make Money”.

The term “Make Money” has a search volume of 5 (basically, this means the search volume box is completely filled). But, other keyword phrases like “Make Money From Home” and “Make Money Working At Home” have less search volume.

It’s important to note that the search volume ranges from 1-5. You won’t see these numbers, but you will be able to tell by looking the amount of green in the boxes below Row 2.

For what we’re doing, you can pretty much disregard Rows 3 and 4 altogether.

And that’s how you use the Google Keyword Tool.

So, there you have it. Go ahead and get started back searching for that perfect niche market.

Happy Searching.
