Testimonial of Namecheap

Time for the first review of a domain registrar!

I like NameCheap so I figured I’d post a review about them and of their service.

First, I’ll start out reviewing their interface. I like their interface personally, it’s simple and quite easy to navigate. When it was time for me to create my own name servers, it was quite a breeze and worked fast. When I had to push a few domains along to my friends or customers whom left me, once again, quite quick and simple. I give the interface a 8 out of 10.

Next, I’ll speak about the awesome marketplace. Great place to buy and sell domains. I’ve sold I think about 15 domains there, and all was nice. Everyone paid right away, and transfer of ownership was nice and smooth. I was pleasantly surprised, as I’ve had quite the problems transferring ownership of domains at other registrars, such as GoDaddy. It’s also quite easy to list a domain for sale, and there are always people buying. I’ll give the marketplace a 7 out of 10.

I’ll also touch upon the support staff there. I emailed the support team a few times, and it was not desirable. The staff did get back to me with a nice, well said reply however it took them three days to do it. I was very disappointed. The second time they got back to me twice in the same day. So, I guess it could be worse. A 4 out 10 for the support team.

Lastly, I’ll speak about the Namecheap order form, process of ordering, and pricing. I can’t put in words how straight forward and simplistic it is. I type in a domain I want to register, and it takes me through the process. Often, I can get my domains registered and the site set up within a matter of an hour. They register and setup my domains fast, and once that’s done, I’m all good and well set to go. Their order form and the order process is a breeze. The pricing until about a week ago (see here) was great, at $8.88 a domain without a coupon, and about $7.98 with a coupon. Nice, cheap, and useful. However, as also mentioned in the post listed above, pricing went up to $9.29 for domains . I’ll give the domain part of Namecheap a 10 out of 10 and the pricing a 7 out of 10.

I love Namecheap and will keep all my domains there until it is time for them to expire. However, I think I’ll transfer them out after their registration time is up to a cheaper registrar, since I have so many domains.
