Tailor-made Pond Liners for Your Landscaping Necessities

Tailored Pond Liners for Your Landscaping Requirements

In the landscaping industry one of the popular request is to add an attractive and tranquil pond on the client’s property. Ponds are a wonderful way to increase natural wildlife into the garden and add an attractive feature, so it is no wonder they are so popular. As a landscaper or gardener it is up to you to ensure that the pond is given the best chance to thrive and that the surrounding grounds are not affected by the addition of the body of water. This is where selecting the correct pond liner come in.

Rubber Liners Give Flexibility

Pond liners need to be suitable for the size and shape of the pond as well as the amount of weight it will need to cope with once the pond is established. One of the best options to choose is EPDM (Epalyn, as it is more commonly known as) or Butyl rubber liners. These provide quality protection and an excellent base for the bond to develop between water and earth, remaining stable in the years to come.

Using pond liners is an easy way to introduce a new pond into any outdoor space. They are flexible so it is easy to create any shape of pond your clients request, no matter how unusual the design. Curved or straight edges are not a problem when using rubber as it is so flexible and easy to use. The liners can be cut to size in a warehouse so you don’t have to buy premade sizes that aren’t big enough, or buy more than you need so costing you and your client more money.

What Type of Liner is Best?

The option you choose really is down to personal choice and the type of pond being created or maintained. The common options available include:

Heavy Duty PVC – PVC is an option that is often selected for smaller ponds that are there for visual pleasure. If used in the right situation the liner can last a lifetime so long as the size is below 60 square metres. As it isn’t as thick as other options available, this type is not recommended on larger ponds or pools of water.

Epalyn Rubber – This liner comes in various thicknesses going up to 1mm. It’s much more flexible than other options, it can be vulcanised into many shapes and creates a watertight seal. Ponds up to 100 metre squared can be lined with the rubber liner and last a lifetime.

Tailored Pond Liners – If you require a tailored liner you are best to choose EPDM rubber or Butyl rubber. They can be used to line concrete, brick or soil and can even be used where shelving, slopes or uneven bases to the ponds have been requested. If you have your design all you need to do is contact the seller directly with your plans and leave the tailoring to the experts.
