If you have a boat of any size then you know the importance of lighting. Boats have lights on their exteriors and, if you have an interior to the vessel, that will need lighting too. Even if you don’t plan on taking your boat out at night, it, by law must have certain lights installed for safety’s sake.
Sea worthy vessels, like other forms of transportation are out in the elements a lot of the time and most just don’t have the room for traditional light bulbs or other lighting elements. This is where strip lights come in handy.
Strip lights come in long winding pieces similar to a cord or a ribbon. Some are weatherproof so you can put them anywhere, they are flexible, and essentially they resemble a big tape that has lights inside it. Some come with the added convenience of being able to be cut into smaller segments so that you can use them virtually anywhere, even if your space is very small.
They do come in many colours, but each strip will be of the same colour, and at 4 watts a foot, they certainly do shoot out a lot of light. It is estimated that some strip lights can last 30,000 hours and because they are peel and stick, they can be placed anywhere instantly.
Strip lights are used for under cabinets, as accent, task or bias lighting, in vehicles, landscaping and even in homes and businesses. There are several variations, one of which is the quad row LED variety that is super bright at 12 watts per foot. This version isn’t weatherproof so it can be used indoors only, but is great for lighting bulkheads, cabinets or under cabinet work spaces. These too are peel and stick and are great for hard to reach or small areas that need light but just can’t handle traditional varieties. The super bright LED ones last up to 60,000 hours and emits up to 1,088 lumens of red, green or blue light per foot.
If you have a sea worthy vessel, you know how small the inside areas can be, but you also want them to be lit properly. Strip lights make the perfect item to make your life easier. They are easy to install, work for years without having to be replaced and fit into areas that you may have thought can never be lit.
