There are many methods you can use when trying to find out how to get traffic to your blog, but many of them will include doing keyword search and research. You can write articles, comment on other blogs, and post your links in different areas. All of this will help you get traffic, but the most important step is something you should do before you build the blog.
Keyword
You will need to do a bit of research before you set up your blog. The reason for this is because you are going to want to target your blog to people who are already looking for the information or product you have. Do keyword search and research about your niche and look through the results you get. You may have to re-phrase you title a couple times to find one that has the results you want and is easy, and comfortable to work with. Sometimes you can get a good phrase, but it doesn’t work well in a sentence. Make sure that you can use your phrase into a sentence and have it make sense. This is going to be important when you try to write your articles later.
The results you want in your keyword search and research is 5000 hits or less. The reason behind this is because it will be easier for you to place on the first page of search results on search engines with this number. You will also want to type in your keyword phrase and see what the first page of results are. If you get nothing but.org or.gov sites; you are going to want to use a different phrase. Look for one that has 5000 or less and pulls up free sites on the first page of search results. By free sites I mean something that has Squidoo, HubPages, Blogger, or something like that in the address of the result.
I know that this sounds like a lot of work, but it can make a huge difference when you are trying to figure out how to get traffic to your blog. Also, with targeted traffic (people who are looking specifically for your niche) you are more likely to get sales. Taking the time to do the keyword search and research to really hone your content in to people who are looking for it, and because of that more willing to buy it when they do find it. So where do you get a keyword tool? There are some affiliations that include this tool on their sites for members, and Google has one that you can use for free. You would be wise to put either, or both of them to use and see what results you get.
After you find a couple phrases that will work by doing the keyword search and research, pick the best one and use it for your domain name. You are also going to want to use it within the content on your blog, and for at least one article. Use the other phrases that you found for more articles and link them to your blog. You may also want to use one other good phrase on your home page. This allows your blog to be cited for multiple keywords and would expand the area of search results you will get pulled up for.
