Inversion Table – Does it Hurt Your Feet?
Have you ever tried using an inversion table? If no, is it because you think it may hurt your feet? If you answered yes to the later question, then I have a few suggestions that you can follow in order to not hurt your feet and still get the same benefits of using an inversion table.
First, remember and concentrate on what an inversion table can do for you. There really is not a better way to stretch out your body and back and revers the negative effects that gravity produces as it pulls on your body every day. No, remembering this benefit will not stop your pain, but it will help you keep in perspective the reason why you are going through this pain in the first place.
Second, try using a good thick pair of socks when you hang for the first couple of times. Instead of going bare foot try using the thickest, best fitting socks that you have. I would suggest possibly finding a good pair of cotton socks that fit your foot nice and snug (no slack), then putting a nice pair of wool socks over them (again, make sure the wool socks are somewhat snug). This will add a nice layer of padding between your feet and the inversion table and help prevent some of the pain, if not all the pain. Many people find that they experience no pain when doing this.
Third, keep your shoes on. If you need to do this, then make sure that the shoes ‘fit’ well with the inversion table and your feet. What does this mean? It means that the shoes not only will not damage the machine, but also that they fit well with the machine, allowing you to hang without hurting your feet more than they would if you hung barefoot. This may take some adjusting and practice, but should take care of any issues you have.
Fourth, you can also try using gravity boots instead of an inversion table. Gravity boots are a little more difficult to use, so if you’re not an athlete make sure you have someone helping you. However, I have noticed people complaining less about their feet hurting when using inversion gravity boots, so that may be a better option for you–but again only if you are agile and athletic enough to be able to use them properly and/or have someone there to help you with it.
Again, don’t let the pain stop you from experiencing the best stretch in your life!
