How to Prevent Getting Your Accounts Hacked

Even before the news on Google account users in China being hacked ever boomed, there were already a large number of people complaining that their accounts on the internet are hacked. With many net surfers, not to mention those that join social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter; cyber crimes are going more rampant from committing scams to identity theft. Americans, where some of the best sites were ever founded, are even having a hard time doing their US people search since there are those that use other people’s accounts. There are many occurrences as well where a man falls into jail for someone else’s doing.

For those who have done their research on court records to see how many have already filed complaints on such problem, you may as well be very aware that there are only some with solved cases; others are still left helpless. The best way is to know how to protect your account from such frailty. Here are ways to prevent your account from being hacked.

1. Have a password that uses a combination of characters. Don’t just settle for words alone. It is best to have numbers included, even symbols. There are sites which check the strength of the password you used. However there are those with limited strength meter, being settled with long words. Remember to also make passwords that are easy for you to remember.

2. Choose a difficult security question. There are those that go through clicking the “forget password” area just to gain access to the security question. Therefore keep in mind to make one that they can’t guess the answer no matter what. In case that you got into a site where they use options for security questions, treat the answers like password.

3. In the case that you get phishing emails which may prompt you to give your email address and password, better report them as spam or delete them immediately. Be on the lookout for such emails. Remember not to answer such emails as much as possible.

4. be careful of spyware. Remember to do a background check on this since they may be also hacker’s way to get information from you. There are spywares used as a networking tool however is sure that the person you’ll be allowing to get such information from you is someone who is trustworthy.
