Golf Trolleys: How Does an Electric Golf Trolley Work?

Electric golf trolleys are manufactured and designed to take golfers and their paraphernalia around courses during a golfing round. First invented in 1951, the first golf trolley was electric but it was later to be followed by the gas- powered golf trolley. The electric golf trolley is preferred over the gas- powered ones for two main reasons. The first one is that, they are environmental friendly since they are very low on pollutants emissions. Secondly, unlike gas-powered golf trolleys, they are quieter during operation. The only shortcoming of the electric is that they are much slower than gas carts and they are in the habit of petering, upon conclusion of a long round, not very convenient for your golf gaming rounds.

The operational mechanism of an electric golf trolley

If you are keen on how your electric trolley will operate, then the first step is choosing the ultimate trolley for your golfing rounds, based on the ground course you intend to go gaming on, could be a flat course or a relatively hilly course. Here, there are two major types of trolleys to choose from, the Greenhill Trolley (GT) range or the Pure Traction (PT) range.

The Greenhill trolley model is designed for your golfing needs in flat or relatively flat golf courses. The Ultrasonic Digital Controller that it comes with enables it to run smoothly. It also has a Rocker (Lazy) Switch that allows the trolley to easily start and stop. In addition to these two features, this golf trolley comes with a speed-controlling knob that allows you to control the speed of the trolley by allowing acute control of a constant speed.

There are many reasons why a golfer would go for the GPT. In addition to the features mentioned above, it has a highly efficient Kinetic Energy Recovery System.

The PT (good for golfing on relatively hilly courses) also employs this unique system for recharging the batteries (battery) during downhill rounds.

So, what is the actual operational mechanism of an electric golf trolley?

Generally, the operational mechanism of a trolley equals that of a typical locomotive, the best comparison is probably a car. The major components include a four wheels, brakes, batteries (battery), a steering wheel, control keys and the on and off switch. It resembles an average car in almost all aspects.

To start the trolley, turn on the key and then turn on your gear depending on whether your intended move is forward or reversed, engage the battery and then stop by pressing on the breaks. This is even easier if your trolley has on its top the P button, it serves to set your trolley on the emergency state in case you made a stop.

That is the operational mechanism of an electric golf trolley but the mechanism of a gas trolley does not have much of a difference, only the gas would be engaged in the case of a battery for equal performance, if the rest of its components are similar. Only that gas trolleys are environmentally unfriendly by the emissions of incompletely burnt gases in addition to producing much noise as compared to the electric golf trolleys which are more quieter and do not pollute the environment.
